Firmware flashing
Flash firmware onto UV-K5 family radios. You can use firmware picked from Firm Hub or a .bin file on your PC.

Supported boards
Even within the UV-K5, each mainboard generation uses a different chip, so firmware is not interchangeable. The generation is checked from the file contents and the radio's bootloader version.
| Generation | Chip | Models | Max size |
|---|---|---|---|
| UV-K5 V1 family | DP32G030 | UV-K5·K5(8)·K6·5R Plus, Radtel RT-590·RT-600 | 60 KiB |
| UV-K5 V3 / UV-K1 | PY32F071 | UV-K5 V3 · UV-5R Plus (new) · UV-K1 | 118 KiB |
| UV-K5 V2 | PY32F030 | Some UV-K5(8) | Not supported |
Safeguards
- Firmware for another generation is never written. The target chip is identified from the start of the file (Cortex-M vector table), and writing is blocked if it does not match the radio's bootloader version.
- The bootloader area is never touched. Files larger than the application area are rejected.
- Unknown bootloaders are not written to. Only confirmed versions (2.x–5.x, 7.00.07 and later) are allowed.
- Every page must be acknowledged. The next 256 bytes are sent only after the radio reports a successful write.
- Firm Hub files are downloaded from GitHub releases and checked against the SHA-256 recorded by GitHub.
